Welcome to the World

This has been one very long/sleepless week! But it was oh so worth it!! This week my younger sister went to the hospital to deliver her baby boy. Most women come in and deliver realitvily quickly... in some cases they take longer... I had no idea that labor could last so long. My poor sister was in labor for well over 30 hours... I lost count after that!

They induced her Monday afternoon and on Tuesday evening, they decided to stop her medicine and wait one hour and restart it to see if it would help get things kick started. In the next few hours she only dialated half a centimeter. By this time she had finally made it to 4 centimeters and wasn't budging. She had also been on her epidural for 18 hours by this time. She was tired and hurting and ready to have this baby. After the nurse had a short telephone conversation with her doctor, they begin to prep her for an emergency c-section. During this time Kimberly and I shared some very funny, exciting, emotional moments. It was finally time.

As she left the room, I headed for the lobby to wait for his arrival. About 20 minutes later here came that sweet little boy everyone was so anxious to meet! Here are some pictures of his arrival:

He came into the world on September 14, 2011 at 1:40 am, weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19 inches long!
